GBBO Blog - Patisserie Special
GBBO blog time! This week’s semi-final episode saw the final 4 of this year’s competition take on Patisserie week. Some of the French-themed bakes we saw included Choux Buns, Les Miserables Slices & a Meringue centre-piece with some being better than others. In what Paul Hollywood called “the closest call in 8 series”, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Stacey as she left the tent at the final hurdle.
Mocha Eclairs
The first bake on this week’s list are these gorgeous mocha-crème filled eclairs. The eclair is as classic a French bake as you can get and this coffee-flavoured twist is particularly refreshing. This recipe can be made in around 2 hours and the scattering of coffee beans to top them really finish them off nicely.

Cassis Meringues With Champagne Cream
Up next we have another French classic; meringues. This particular recipe is perfect for the winter season due to it being topped with winter berries and decorative leaves. This can be made in around 3 hours and will serve 8 people.

Rhubarb & Crème Chantilly Croquembouche
Half way through this week’s list we have this incredible Rhubarb & Crème Chantilly Croquembouche. The Croquembouche is a traditional French celebration dessert and can be particularly challenging to make, but we think you’ll agree that it is worth it purely on how fantastic it looks (if done right!). This takes around 3 hours to make and will serve 10 people.

Next on our list this week we have this delicious Blackberry Meringue Roulade. This dessert is filled with Blackberry puree inside whilst the meringue gives the outside a chewy yet crisp texture. This particular recipe can be made in 45 minutes and will serve 6 people.

The final bake on this week’s list is a mix of two Patisserie classics; meringue and eclairs. These Lemon Meringue Eclairs are filled with a lemon crème and topped with whipped meringue. This recipe serves 8 and can be made in around 1 hour 40 minutes.
